This is the first cucumber from my garden! There are a few green tomatoes as well. I need to cut the lettuce and arugula, but the Mosquitos are so bad I can hardly stand to be out there long enough to water! I need to buy some bug spray so I can get my garden back in shape!
I’m home after a little Georgia vacay with my family. On the Fourth of July, I spent a little time poolside with my brother and sister-in-law before a neighborhood party which included yummy food, meeting lots of sweet neighbors and watching fun kiddos splashing around in the pool. My brother and I snuck away from the party for a bit to go fishing! I caught a huge brown trout and a flounder. The flounder might not count because he got off the hook about halfway out of the water. Better luck next time. Regardless, it felt good to be fishing … Especially with my big brother.
I highly recommend FIREFLY LANE. I’m about 1/4 of the way in and I’m hooked. So far, it’s a story of an unlikely friendship and authenticity.
Also, go see The Heat. It’s hysterical.
I’m spending the week on St. Simons Island with my family. Christmas was the last time we were together, so I don’t even care that it’s raining during our beach week. It’s just good to be together.
We went for a walk this morning and found this sand dollar on the beach. I broke it rinsing the sand off about 1 minute after I took this picture. Ooops. There is a sand bar at low-tide and I’m thinking there may be a bed of the sand dollars on the sand bar. I may have to investigate.

A couple of days ago, I found baby cucumbers in my garden, but didn’t see this big guy until this morning! I think this one got a head start!
She had the time her life in the mud. Luckily, she likes to swim, too, so after this she took a little dip and rinsed off …
Spa Day followed the icky Potomac River fun she had. She loves to swim, but does not love Spa Day.
This is the first tomato I’ve ever grown!
Her: Is that your natural hair color? It’s just beautiful!
Me: ha! No, I wish, but thank you! Unfortunately, I have to pay good money for this …
Her: And do you have them do that dark streak down the top? The two colors go so well together …Your hair is gorgeous.
Me: oh, no … The dark part is my natural color …
Yeah … So apparently my roots are showing.
And … She was being serious.
